Just a quick post...
While working at Waterstones, my partner and i have been involved with creating window displays for the current in house books of the month. This has proven to be a lot of fun, while allowing us to pick up some sills learnt through various steep learning curves the task always throws our way. I assure you that each and every time, bar none, i have walked into the window area at the beginning of the task and thought to myself 'this is going to be lovely!.'
However, this is hardly ever entirely the truth, i tend to find that the valuable lessons i had drank up from the last time i did this decide to depart my awareness and leave me to discover all over again. Fantastic.
I cant moan to much however as i am essentially being paid to do something i really love, so theres the real message of this brief story: if you ever get the chance to design window displays (painted ones included) go for it, but be warned (and be sure to heed my words) paint does not , i repeat does not completely cover a window on the first coat. Never.
Moan over i thought id share some images of my partner and my own handiwork for two fantastic books; the children's book of the month (at the time) Gold fish boy by Lisa Thompson and the Ashes of London by Andrew Taylor.
